Will education fix the wrongs in the world?
This is one of the questions I was asked for my final paper for my Intro to Ed class. Here is part of my response:
"While I do not believe education can completely fix society on it’s own,
it can surely help the work along. As a teacher, teaching children the
importance of being active in their own education and showing them you believe
in them enough to help them instills a sense of pride in themselves that will
help them make better choices in life. However, I believe the statement by David
O. McKay sums up the importance of the home and family in regards to fixing
society: “The home is the first and most effective place for children to learn
the lessons of life: truth, honor, virtue, self-control; the value of education,
honest work, and the purpose and privilege of life. Nothing can take the place
of home in rearing and teaching children, and no other success can compensate
for failure in the home” (McKay)"
