Gratitude....

so people have asked me what i want for Christmas (mainly my family) and it has been hard for me to give them a list because it has been hard for me to make one. the past year and half have been such a horrible roller coaster for me that i have learned to be grateful for the things i have been blessed with. these trials have helped me to appreciate the things i have and has helped me to realize that material things dont matter as much as people make them out to. i dont have a Ferarri and a $50,000 job but i do have a car to get me from point A to point B and back. i have a job that affords me to have a car, live away from home and to be able to in an interesting way, help others. i hope this comes across the way it is in my head.... because those who know me know that sometimes what is in my head is different than how it comes out of my mouth....

so here's the low down....

I started my new job on the 27th of october (Happy birthday present Michelle!!!!). i had been there for a few days or so when i realized my breaks would need to be replaced in my saturn. i didnt want to replace them if i was just going to turn around and get a new car. i had planned on getting a new car back in january, but things didnt work out. so i have driven Louie (my car has a name, i'm not the only one....) so after roughly about a week of research last week, my mom and i went to go look at a car. and the saga begins.... so the car description online said that it had air conditioning, was a 5 speed manual, etc... when we went to drive the Aveo, we found out that it didnt have air conditioning. we took it for a test drive anyway, which was interesting because neither me or my mom had driven stick shift in years.... (Michelle was in the car with us when we were driving and she thinks that it was dangerous and scary....) we took the car back to the dealership and decided we wo...

A JOB! A JOB! I HAVE A JOB!!!!!

After over a year of trying to get a job, I was finalLy blessed with the opportunity! A local staffing agency had an opening for a temp to perm Office Assistant position at a company in Waterville , Ohio. And even though i would have liked to have gotten hired on at O wens full time perminant after being here for 8 months, they " couldn't find the funds" to do so. (in order to protect names, D. is the name of the temp lady i have been working with recently) So i had the first interview scheduled for October 13 th . I emailed D. at the the temp agency to see if i could get some additional information about the company i would be interviewing with, to give me whatever edge i had been missing out on with the previous 15 interviews!!!! When i got the email back the morning of the interview, D. said that they had filled the position and so my interview for that afternoon had been canclled ..... i was kinda dissapointed (as my status message on facebook said.... WHEN IS I...

i feel so stupid now! (email to my mom on 10/1/08)

i feel so stupid now! i had sent out a bunch of email resumes and cover letters and just realized that the cover letter says the following....I am writing in response to your Receptionist position posted on monster.com. for all of them.... and none of the ones that i sent out yesterday were from monster.com, and not all of them were for receptionist positions!AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH note: (10/6/08) When i was sending out these email resumes and cover letters, i had one that i started with and i would just hit forward, take out the FW:, change the email address, change the specifics in the email (position, where it was posted, ect.) and send it out. the attachments of my resume and cover letter were already attached! it was great.... till i realized that i was forwarding the exact same cover letter to all these people and that the cover letter had been personalized to a job i applied for weeks ago!

Odds and Ends anyone?

so seeing as my hours were cut 25% a few weeks ago, i am looking for some odd jobs to do to A) fill my time and B) fill my pocket. I'll be honest, i am looking for jobs that will pay me. running errands, making cards, raking leaves, other odds and ends, let me know if you think of anything!

CrAzY wEeK!

This week has been super busy! oh my gosh! monday: work, emailing property manager*, interview, Hero's season premiere Tuesday: work, watched House (Great Show!) Wednesday: work, 3 loads of laundry, Institute, shopping Thursday: meeting with temp agency, work, Dentist appointment (2 1/2 hours)** Friday: Interview, work, Ladies Night RS activity Saturday: SLEEPING IN!, then the RS Broadcast *So i have been emailing the property manager for the town hosue we live in about getting the air conditioning fixed and fixing a running toilet. when i emailed her on monday, this is the 3rd monday in a row i have had to email her about this problem and no one has been out to fix it yet! **so the 2 1/2 dentist appoint may need some explanation: Because i fell off of my dad's health insurance at the end of 2007, i have no health insurance to cover dentist appointments. so during a work provided lunch, someone was talking to me and my dad about the Dental Hygiene clinic on campus and said ...

Gary is a snail mommy/daddy!

so we think that Gary (the snail in the fish tank at our place) laid eggs some time between last night and this morning. michelle noticed it this morning that gary was above water (something that rarely happens....) and it looked like he had started up higher and just was leaving a skid mark on the glass, but it was little pink things that looked like tapiocca pudding with no pudding.... it was kinda gross, but in doing some limited research, snails are hermaphidites, so it dosent need another snail to reproduce.... so we may end up with a bunch of baby snails!!!!

Job Search

I am still looking for full time perminant employment somewhere. i have another interview today. so lets hope all goes well.

Forgotten wedding gifts....and why they are sooooo needed!

1. So another of my roomates got married a week ago! (Congrats to Kristi and Paul!) With both of the roomates that have been in the room next to me (one after the other), they both "almost burnt down the house" by leaving a candle lit overnight. (or for an extended period of time). so when Megan got married, one of her wedding gifts from her old roomates was a fire extinguisher....(and oddly enough, some candles) A fire extinguisher is one of those things that everyone should have, but no one thinks to get it for them, and they dont get it till after something major happens.

Embarassing moment....

so i went in the basement this morning and found a pair of pants.... i decided that i would wear them.... when i was carying them around, the pants didnt seam familiar to me.... i dismissed them as possibly being Christina's pants that may have been in the cloths i got.... (my sister got rid of alot of cloths recently and i ended up with them....) i get to work and after about 45 minutes of being here, i realized why these pants didnt seam fimiliar.....one day i had an interview when i was working in developmental education and i had a pair of pants that the inside thigh had warn out on the seam.... so there was a HUGE hole in them..... yea these are the pants. i had them with some stuff that i was goign to use for sewing fabric, and they got put on top of a pile of laundry in the basement.... so i have a nice 4 inch hole in the inseam of the left leg of my pants.... i eventualy made it over to the campus bookstore and bought a sewing kit....

quote of the day

so a lady in my office is a grandmother again! her daughter had a baby boy(?) on wednesday. in discussing weekend plans, she said she was going to be going over to her daughers to help with the new baby tomorrow.... in part of hte conversation, she mentioned something about she was goign to have a busy weekend.... then she said somethign along the lines of the following.... "those saturdays of grandma by herself are long gone. Grandma is lucky if she gets to shave her legs!" just funny to hear someone say that!

Julie has a new blog!

i've decided that because more people i know have blogger than my previous blog, i would change.... more later!
