Today I am 30 years old. Honestly, one of the happiest parts of my day was driving home from work a few minutes early, window unrolled with my radio on full blast, driving home knowing I had received a mystery box of thoughtfully given tulips for the 3rd year in a row.

I do not know who the flowers are from. I've had suspicions, but I do not want them to stop. I've begun looking forward to receiving these beautiful tulips. It is a grateful change of pace to look forward to something beautiful like this instead of the many deadlines and due dates I run into durring my every day life.

This was my motto for my birthday this year. As many friends wished me happy birthday on Facebook, I encouraged them to do a random act if kindness for someone in honor of my birthday. Or for a few people, I encouraged them to do something random. Let's face it; I can be a very random person. (Have you seen my music choices!?)

This is me, wearing the Don Pablo's birthday sombrero on my 30th birthday. Being with my family, all of us getting along, was a great way to spend my evening.

So, here I am. Another year older, and hopefully wiser, too. If, when I was 20, you'd asked me what I would be doing when I turned 30, I'm sure it would be drastically different from my present day reality. I've had some brilliant highs and many days of tears and anger. I've lost family and friends. I've suffered heartbreak and gripping loneliness. I've made amazing friends that have been placed in my life at and for just the right time. I've been a witness to some amazing miracles.
Something I've learned over the past 10 years? Something I would tell my 20 year old self? The Lord knows what he is doing. Though I may not always enjoy the difficulties and self proclaimed unfairness, I understand that these hard times are going to make my life's tapestry beautifully intricate as only The Master can create.
