What a semester!
Well, It's finals week. You may wonder how I have time to write a post during finals week. I am able to do so because all of my classes that required finals gave them out last week, so I have no finals or final projects or assignments due this week! What a relief that is!
This semester has been an interesting one. School has been great and other than a rough start in one of my classes, I should be getting at or above a B+ in one class and A's in the other 2 classes. I've been working at the University of Toledo since August and while I love it here, I still feel as if I am in limbo land. I have been temping here since the beginning of August, filling in for a lady on leave. She has extended her leave at least 2-3 times since I have been here and is probably going to retire at the end of the year instead of come back to work. While I am grateful to be here, I wish I knew what next year would bring, employment wise. Because I am only a temp here, I do not fit in to the union heierarchy. This means that if this lady retires, they need to first try to fill the position with a secretary already in the union on campus. If no one wants the position, then it has to be advertized online and in the paper. That is when I can apply for the job and fight to get it with hundreds of other people who see the ad.
I am still planning on taking classes this spring, but because of the unsurety of my employment situation, my adviser signed me up for 18 credit hours, giving me an array of morning, afternoon and evening classes so that I at least have a seat in the classes. Then, when the semester starts, I can drop classes depending on when I am working.
I am a person who likes to know what is going on and have some handle on my life. So not knowing what classes I will be taking in the spring, not knowing where or if I will have a job come the first of the year, it's making me a bit frazzled.
