Timing and People
Tonight I am grateful for timing and people.
I'm grateful that of all times to have an unexpected outdoor electrical fire at my parents house, it was still durring waking hours with people in view of the window, so it was caught quickly instead of when people were sleeping or out of view. We had just finished playing a game when I looked out the kitchen window to see sparks comming off the house. Then I realized that THERE WERE SPARKS COMING OFF THE HOUSE! After a brief panic of figuring out what was going on, and having the lights/power flicker and go out, we got everyone out of the house and called 911. Gratefully, we live in the city instead of the outskirts so the fire department was able to come quickly, taking care of the fire before it did any damage to the house. (Also, kudos to the neighbor who allowed us to use his electricaly rated fire extinguisher) The fire department assessed the situation, and informed us that Toledo Edison should be there in he next 1-2 hours to replace the wire. Less than 45 minutes later, the power company arrived and in less than an hour after their arrival, power was restored. I am grateful to the electric company for coming super fast to replace the wire, explained what happened, and that in the near future another wire would need to be replaced to prevent this from happening again.
I'm grateful to all people involved, firemen, police officer, electrical worker, and James R. Perry, Christina Perry, Janet Perry, Michelle Palinkas and Brad Kita who were calm, patient and quick thinkers when faced with an unexpected and undesired situation.
I am grateful to the Lord for his timing.

Below (for record keeping sake) are a few other people's takes on the evenings events....
Brad Kita: Fun evening! Game night and let's call it "fireworks" at the Perry household!
Michelle Palinkas: Just another abnormal night at the Perry's. This time it involved a game of Munchkin, the sounds snap/crackle/pop, locking 3 dogs in my Jeep, lots of flashing lights, Brad Kita pointing out a fireman undressing in the middle of the street, and a dude from Toledo Edison with some kind of weird accent. Response to this status by Christina Perry: WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME THERE WAS A MAN STRIPPING?!?!?!?!
Christina Perry: Exciting night. My powerline caught on fire, snapped in half, and caught our house and lawn on fire. No power but Toledo Edison is installing a new powerline. Everything is ok. Supposedly when the house was built 60 years ago, they only wired it for simple things...not including air conditioning and our hot tub. House is not damaged, just FREAKED us out.
